We're seeking an experienced Project or Construction Design Coordinator to become a key member of our clients growing Hamilton team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being the organiser, the glue and the coordinator to keep the customer, the consultants, and the council all in check, whilst ensuring the build projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.

This isn't a typical project admin role, this is an imperative part of the construction process. It requires a detail orientated, highly organised and construction savvy team player to bring these commercial and residential projects to life.

About the Role

Working closely with the Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, you'll coordinate every stage of the design process, ensuring projects move efficiently from initial concept through to building consent and construction start. You'll be responsible for managing design documentation, arranging and coordinating consultants, maintaining tight project programmes and ensuring all information is accurate, compliant, stored and delivered on schedule.

Your day could include:

  • Coordinating architects, engineers and specialist consultants
  • Managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously
  • Preparing consultant scopes of work
  • Creating and maintaining project design programmes
  • Managing design documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing construction drawings before client and council submission
  • Coordinating client design changes with relevant parties
  • Managing Council RFIs and consent documentation
  • Updating project information within ProCore
  • Assisting with procurement planning and long lead items
  • Supporting project handovers to the construction team
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery

To be successful you will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience from a similar Project , Construction or Design Coordination role within the NZ market
  • Strong understanding of the NZ Building Code
  • Building consent knowledge – dealing with council and requirements
  • Exceptional organisational skills, customer service and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, tasks, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Use of ProCore or similar project management software
  • You will need to be drug free, have clean criminal check and be eligible to work in NZ with open work rights!
